I got cheap salt and pepper shakers at the dollar store, poured the solution in, put the lid on and placed them throughout my garden and flower beds. Worked great!

I just mix a little confectioners sugar and baking soda into small dishes where the ants are coming into the house. They carry some back to the nest and in no time they're gone. You want a dry mixture so that they carry it back to their nest.

Thank you! I do have a question. If the ants are not in the house yet, does plain borax sprinkled around the house keep them out?

Will it kill the colony or just the feeding ants? I see a bowl of dead ants but if the colony is thriving then the problem isn’t solved.

That's not a good recipe. You used too much boric acid. You want ants to carry them back to their colony, not to die in your syrup. Terro's 5.4% recipe: 6 grams of boric acid, 50 grams of water, 50 grams of sugar. The 5.4% concentration kills the queen.
