Today I talk about why you cant lift an awd jeep grand cherokee and also how to fix the issue. The issue with lifting a Jeep WJ is the weak front drive shaft on some models. You have to upgrade to a conventional double cardan shaft to have a strong front drive shaft that will make lifting it no issue!

I have a 2000 awd wj and I learned the hard way on the drive shaft lol. I ended up getting a double cardon shaft from auto zone then got the back yoke from O'Riley and had to go to shaft masters to get the transfer case yoke. I also took it to a rack and pinion shop to get it installed. But it works great now. Watching your videos helped tremendously!!!! On the way to the store this morning my tie rod came out from the sleeve. So now I'm looking at new steering components. Oh and it has the rough country lift. Thanks for all the hard work 👍

Just a heads up, I own a 2000 Laredo Quadra-Tec 4.7 and the double cardigan drive shafts are known to have the centering balls go out and give a loud squeak. Hopefully can save you some drive shaft diagnosing headache

247 transfer case is the best and only true 4wd jeep. It has diff lockers with varilock. Models with 242 tc are awd suvs with open diffs and usseles.

I had a 2004 overland with a rough country 4” short arm lift on 32”s. Worked wonderfully. Very slight driveshaft vibration under low rpm acceleration. Other than that zero problems. Any thoughts?

I had the shaft you had also...
I rebuilt it twice in 2 months due bad bushings everywhere. I fixed EVERYTHING that causes DW (I know you know about that). I then bought the better shaft. It's not as smooth while driving but it's definitely stronger, better, and longer lasting.

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo All Wheel Drive With 4 inch rough country lift eith 33 by 12.5 tires, but did it right, the drive shaft cost $400 Canadian and other things and it runs great and can go off roading anywhere I want, But Yes You Must Do It Right Or Don't Do It At All, Great Tips From Your Channel.

I know this is an old video but could you tell me which lift kits would work for an 03 wj, limited 4.7v8, Quadra drive with a solid axel. I was told by a mechanic that he wasn’t able to find one.

My 99 WJ 4.0l came with the NP147 transfer case. It climbs like a Billy goat. It’s AWD but from my understanding that transfer case also comes in the 06 Jeep Compass

my '04 full-time (247) 4wd laredo has the double u joint drive shaft, i believe the double cardan. so do i still need to swap out the yolk to make the angle better? im planning on a 2-4in bb.

Luckily Mines the full time 4x4 quadratrac or drive idr. 2002 limited grand cherokee. Got lucky there. Looks like it has the double conventional cardon.
