How to Generate Metrics from Logs | Datadog Tips & Tricks

Generating metrics from logs is a powerful tool for monitoring attributes which are parsed from your logs. The process is as simple as navigating to the “Generate Metrics” screen in the Datadog Logs Configuration page. Once there, you can define the new metric which you would like to be captured from your log attributes. Once your metric is created, you can utilize it as you would any other metric in Datadog. You can create machine learning-based monitors for that metric, graph it in a Datadog notebook, or even use it for tracking SLOs to better understand your system’s user experience.

Hey Datadog community, I have configured the datadog configuration setup from configuration file.
Can Datadog have option to disable all the metrics, not logs from its configuration file ?

What's the value of metrics? I mean everywhere that we can use a metric to create something (dashboarding, alerting, monitoring, etc) there is also the option to use "logs" instead as well. Can't we just go ahead and use logs instead of metrics, or is there any other value I'm missing

When clicking on the attribute is that measure option only available for certain datatypes?
