I remember during the pandemic trying to buy chemex filters from amazon only to find they were out of stock. This went on for months. I eventually googled and found out that they had sold all of their filters to third party sellers. I have no idea what became of the brewers.
There's likely more to this story.

Volume of the voice over is on point! Thanks for listening to the suggestion :)

I typically only brew single cup V60 or Aeropress. If I'm brewing for two, then I'll pull out the Chemex.

Honestly we just need a tiny Chemex to be made - tiny for their standards at least. It’s still very fun for larger groups and it looks so much better than any dripper that exists on the market. It’s definitely a hassle for daily use though, I don’t even feel happy pouring water on v60 filters.

I have a large clever dripper. No need for the hassle the chemex brings

I use chemex everyday. I have an ottomatic if I'm not feeling up to brewing with a kettle. And I love the simplicity of it.

Pretty but too many design flaws + overpriced + paper filters are too thick + difficult to clean + V60 decanter is simply better.

If it got cancelled I didn't hear about it. In fact 2 years ago I doubled down and got the Ottomatic. You know how hard that was to find in Australia?

It's looking fantastic on my table and getting passed over for a $20 French press every morning, right next to the Moccamaster lol

For me its the volume, I have a hario switch I use to brew for myself, but whenever I have guests over I love to pull out the chemex

It is just too big. I got into coffee when I found out about single dosing - James Hoffman’s V60 and Tetsu Katsuya winning the World Brewer’s Cup.

My grinder is single dose, max. 100 g.

When I saw the Chemex, I tried to find a single dose version of it that should be tiny and possible to store in a drawer but to no avail.

My interest piqued again when I found out about the Ottomatic a week ago. But then, I saw the Hario Electric Siphon that looks so beautiful on a balcony side table. The Hario Electric Siphon is just as hourglass-shaped as the Chemex but way tinier than an Ottomatic and easier to clean because the parts break up. I just thought, WOW, Hario understood the consumer’s subconscious notes.

You see, nobody wants to wash out an hourglass shape piece of glass. I know it is coffee and it washes really easily… but it is also a combination of the size, the wood, the startup price, the paper, the folding, blah, blah blah.

What I can’t get over is the stupid shape of the filter paper for 3 cup Chemex. I was aiming to buy a 3 cup Chemex because of the recent trend for osmotic pressure pour over. I feel like the 3 cup is more aesthetic than Kalita’s tall filter.

But nope, the paper is a killer.

Speaking as a brazilian. The chemex looks great, but it costs SO MUCH here and the filters are so expensive and wasteful.
Its just not a good brewer to get here.

I mean, always has been pretty meh, it's simple enough to the point of a conventional Coffee Maker but manual and with disposable filters

There's a lot more interesting things out there lately, the percolator took the interest of a lot of ppl, the moka pot came stronger than ever, and if you are already doing manual work for it, I'll rather make an Expresso with a huge machine and a leaver than a weak ass chemex americano :v

Expensive to replace for how thin the glass is

The reason is because people learnt how to brew v60 during the pandemic 🤷
