The RE2 remake pretty much started with a fan making their own version. Capcom saw and then started making it. Maybe it can happen again with Konami, not holding my breathe though.

Oh god. I can’t even imaging how amazing this could be. So many emotions ran through my head watching just this small piece of the game remade as we all probably imagine it should look if it was real. Sadly, this is a dream that will probably never become a reality. Unless Kojima manages to get the IP somehow, I don’t think we will ever see a Silent Hill remake. Heart breaking, considering the terror this remake could potentially hold.

I think you got the look pretty spot-on! It seems a bit more distressed and dirty than I remember, but a lot of PS1 environments leave a lot to personal interpretation. I knew it wouldn't, but I hoped the camera would float out the diner and into the streets at the end :) Nice piano cover, too!
