Jeb once said in regards to nitwits, "Whenever we discover we have a bug which is used by the community we just see it as 'undefined behaviour' - and 'fix' it by making it a feature."
That aged like milk.

Mojang’s out here fixing these tiny “bugs” that have been in the games for years, meanwhile in bedrock edition players are dying while standing still for no reason.

The worst offense is not listing these changes in the snapshot changelogs. The community deserves to know right away if something major was changed, it almost feels like mojang is trying to hide these changes and sneak them by.

Back in the days, when Mojang was preparing to rework redstone for the first time, they actually consulted community how redstone is used, which parts of the unintended functionality they consider features, etc. I miss the old Mojang...

here's what most likely happened for 99% of bug fixes like these, a dev who isn't tuned into how parts of the community uses niche bugs noticed the bug while playtesting, went "huh that's weird" then fixed it

I always assumed the "I-frames when you log on" thing was an intentional anti-griefing measure; if you know where someone was standing when they logged off you can spleef them by digging a massive hole there, drop some lava, trap a couple of creepers in an obsidian box, etc., so having a few seconds of invulnerability acts as a safeguard.

Bugs =/= Issues

Every piece of software will have bugs or unintended things happening.
Windows has bugs.
Java has bugs.
Minecraft will always have bugs, some of which inherited directly from Java.

The question is, is every bug in a game also an issue that needs to be fixed?
If something's not actually a problem, there's usually no harm in keeping it.

I recall the trapdoor being able to make you crawl, which lets you fit into 1x1 holes, is technically also a bug, but it's not an issue.

I suspect a lot of these 'bugfixes' are from recent hires at Mojang trying to make a name for themselves by cleaning up Minecraft's (admittedly very huge) bugfix backlog, obviously going for the easy ones first like a mismatched hitbox, without ever knowing how important these are to small-but-unignorable parts of the community.
At this rate we really should assemble a list of 'bugs' that are minor, but so useful that fixing them would break often-used mechanisms and contraptions, so Mojang knows to avoid touching those if they can help it.

Fixing bugs that nobody has a problem with while Bedrock players are RANDOMLY CATCHING ON FIRE AND DYING TO NONEXISTENT FALL DAMAGE

the fact that Mojang has fixed """bugs""" multiple times without documenting them feels like they're purposefully trying to hide that they're fixing them, which feels pretty slimy of them

These sort of changes happen every full release version but usually most people don't notice since they aren't working with this stuff all the time. Only when it's something that many people use does it get talked about.

Hey! Movement changes petition guy here, thanks for bringing these other bugs (which to us are features) to light! Talking about it is the first step in having Mojang listen to us. We know the precedent is not a positive one, but given the outcome of my petition, we can still hope the other "bugs" return - we just gotta yap about it (and in as good faith as possible, we have to trust the devs don't want a bad game as much as we do!)

Some rando at Mojang fixed it while working on the new dimension in the underground cities. I seriously dont think anyone at Mojang said to themselves "we need to fix this random portal feature that noone thinks about". someone was literally poking around in the portal codes purposefully, making changes, which lead to these new portals... I dont even think the coder realized it was different at first ill bet.

At this point, they're gonna "fix" psudeo connectivity with redstone so it has "parity" with bedrock.

Now, I’m not saying Mojang is being actively malicious, but I find it awfully coincidental that the bugs people don’t want fixed are often the ones left out of the in the patch notes.

The portal being a full block shouldn't even be considered a bug, it's such a minor detail and could totally be justified with the fact that being within the frame is what's important, not being right in the center. The nether doesn't obey space in the overworld anyways lol, it's 8x smaller.

my biggest urk is that mojang is refusing to tell us and be open about the process/ideas but instead are doing it in the shadows. They KNOW it's a bad idea and will get a lot of hate yet they're still going with it
