There is a way to get PS2 singstar games to work in a PS3. You just need a PS3 (any), a PS3 singstar game, then you boot into the PS3 game's song selection and select change disc; it will allow you play the PS2 songs even if your PS3 is not backwards compatible.

Could you check if your custom PS2 disc works in a PS3 using this method? Would love to give it a try myself but I don't want to put all the effort in if the final checkpoint will stop me. Cheers

Hey Minor great video, by any chance would you be able to provide some help for me. I too am currently trying to build my own custom singstar game as an anniversary present for my girlfriend, however I am running into two main issues that are preventing me from making progress and was wondering if you encountered the same and how you worked around them:
1. When adding some songs, I receive "is not a valid floating point value" when validating the txt files. I suspect it may be due to notes that work in ultrastar that are out of bounds for singstar and need to be adjusted?
2. Once I've added a list of songs and hit the create DVD button, more often then not the process will get stuck trying to convert one of the txt files and won't progress. I know for a fact that it isn't an issue with the txt file itself as trying to build an ISO with just the one song will work and it more seems to be an issue when trying to convert multiple songs.
Would greatly appreciate any help you could give, can talk over discord if it makes it any easier

I have both the ps2 and the ps3 and since last year I've bought and enjoyed quite a lot of singstar games used for really cheap. My ps2 doesn't work that well anymore from being for years in a vertical stand, plus the image is trash on modern TVs. So what I do is I put in a disc of a ps3 singstar and when I'm in the song list menu, if i press select i can insert a ps2 singstar and play the songs from there. Do you know if the method you used works in the ps3 with that ps2 bypass you mentioned? Thanks!
