Took me a year to diagnose my driveshaft on my k1500. I did 2 alignments at 2 different shops, tire rebalancing and rotations and the driveshaft balance was something I was unaware of at the time and was a Hail Mary call. Wish I would have seen this years ago!

To diagnose by feel and sound is an art my friend. I hope some young people see this and are inspired because we need more mechanics going forward, or we will soon run out of this type of talent. Great job.

When I worked for Ford as a mechanic, my main job was as a NVH troubleshooter, yes, a lot of moving parts have different frequencies that you have to chase, great challenge to isolate.

Great video, great knowledge, good to see you talk about the weights that balances the shaft

The information in the beginning alone, about the speed of the vibration has helped me greatly. I appreciate your knowledge!

Thanks Kenny! Didn't help me with my problem but a very educational video none the less. I'm 56 and still value learning things that can and will save me money. I'm not a mechanic but I'm still the one doing all the work on our cars thanks to guys like you sharing the knowledge on utube. THANKS!!

I'm being chased by axles lately! I just rebuilt a Dana 45... yes 45 and that was my first time in this world - it was kinda ugly. The upper and lower axle arms on my 64 Bonneville I just had to re-bush with liquid poly. Seems, like you say, things come in waves. I once bought a 1967 MGB that had a terrible vibration and the guy was sick and tired of the whole car... believe that or not, and it was only a clump of mud on the driveshaft. After cleaning it was fine and I offered the car back to the guy and he laughed and said "you keep it man". I hope you get to rebuild this unit and I'd love to see your methods on this. I've watched many videos on axle rebuilds now and it seems everyone has slightly differing (Punny huh) methods and your ways are simple and work well every time. I'll be watching! Bobby

Get it to the speed it's vibrating then shift it into nutrail if the vibration goes away it's engine or transmission, if it is still vibrating it's tailshaft bushing towards driveshaft back and possibly rear end.

Hi Kenny from Northern Minnesota, enjoy your channel. Kinda old school with a modern twist. I'm a semi retired mechanic 77 and keep wrenching lol. 😅

Watched so many videos went to so many garages talking to back yard mechanics. Spent so much money. So much stress. Just bought a new truck today. Now just found this video. Well now maybe can fix it. And sell. And get a little cash back. I love this guy. Can't believe now i found this. 😂 Live and learn.

I had that same stop driveshaft thud coming to a stop in my uncle's 92 Silverado. I fixed it easy, some one flip the drive shaft connection to the rear end and it was off balance just flip it 180°
