The Cave - All Character Corpses
Once you play through to the end of the game, you are supposed to trade trinkets to the Gift Shop Clerk in exchange for the object you most desire, and then climb a ladder to leave The Cave. If you leave The Cave with the object, on the next playthrough the new characters will find the corpses of the old characters from the previous playthrough and their objects of desire.

I think the cursed guitar has something to do with that episode of the Twilight Zone where the protagonist finds a cursed guitar and it stays with him forever. The skull is probably an Indy shoutout, having worked on other games in the Indiana Jones series I think Gilbert threw that in deliberately. Not sure about the thespianship award though.
