First of all I'm glad you mentioned your distaste for foam scratching on a surface as I have the same issue! I bought one today and found it fantastic for basic home recording. Only thing I would say is be aware that if you are installing on a windows system, the driver will automatically chooses the M-Track as the default sound output, you can quickly fix this in Control Panel.

Definitely buying this after watching this review. Aesthetics and build quality look very good and it sounds crystal clear with no background noise.

I have had this interface for over 2 years and I honestly have to say that it worked before I had to directly monitor the signal in my DAW. M-Audio for some reason, didn't equip this thing with ASIO compatible drivers so now I'm having latency issues while tracking guitars. Word from the wise, get a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. It's the same amount and is perfect for low latency monitoring if you're recording with guitar amp plugins or anything of the like! I had to learn my lesson the hard way!

I have to replug the usb cable everytime i turn on my computer? When I turn the computer on, the audio interface is off..

I have this audio interface I noticed u talking about pre amp I was thinking I needed to get a pre amp aswell as I record rap vocals
So if I have the m audio I don’t need a preamp?

Helpful video, Shane. Thanks. Questions (and forgive my ignorance, I'm an old-timer who is just getting into this) 1. What is the easiest and best way to get the L &R audio out of my M-Audio (phone jacks) and into my computer? Just a Y adapter cable: two male phono jacks on one end and a single stereo miniplug on the other? Or do I need another box of some kind to optimize sound quality? 2. What do you recommend for a sound mixing program? Just go with the Windows Media Player? Or do you recommend buying or downloading something? I'm just doing interviews and voice recording with maybe mixing in a little music from time to time. Just something simple, easy to learn and operate. And hopefully low-cost to boot. Appreciate any help from you Shane ... or anyone else who is knowledgeable and reads this. THANKS!

So, I plan on doing a voice-over for Youtube videos along with podcasts. A good friend is a voice actor on the move and he would use the equipment from time-to-time.I shortlisted to choose one of these two mics- Audio-Technica AT 2020 or NT1-A.

Which comes down to audio interface. M-Audio M-Track Plus MK II, Roland Duo-Capture and Scarlett 2i2 are within my price range in my country. I am not sure about what is good and what is not, but most YT vids are favouring 2i2, Gear Slutz points towards Roland Duo-Capture over 2i2 due to low latency in USB with some other issues. But then there's the M-Track MK-Pus II and M-Track MK II. There's also M-Track but the difference in pricing is less than $1 equivalent. I would like your take on this:

I am using Windows 10 + Audacity. This would be a BIG step up because its now i've started making YT vids a bit on a regular basis and i am coming from a headset mic. I've checked on these sites and confirmed they work on Win 10, and checked with few reps that with the exception of VIA-made USB 3.0 controllers they work with other USB 3.0 port based controllers.

M-Audio were always high quality but my last soundcard from them had HORRIBLE driver support after a year or two they just stopped updating drivers. Hope they changed their ways.
