Complex Borderline Personality Disorder: How Coexisting Conditions Affect Your BPD and How You Can Gain Emotional Balance. Available at:

In this video, we’re going to discuss the global impact of the COVID pandemic on the children and adolescents who endured it. These are what I call “The COVID Kids”. We’re going to discuss what made the children and adolescents who were isolated or quarantined during the pandemic more vulnerable to develop acute stress disorder, adjustment disorder, depression, anxiety, grief, or other mental health concerns. I’m also going to talk about what we can do for our kids going forward.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are problematic and potentially long-lasting on the mental health of children and adolescents, particularly in those with underlying psychiatric and/or developmental disorders. Being home from school and separated from peers during crucial developmental periods, young children and adolescents were among the individuals most negatively impacted, in various ways, by the pandemic lockdowns all around the world. Anxiety, absence of peer contact, lack of stress regulation, domestic violence, and child maltreatment threats are significant concerns for the mental health of this population.

Possible interventions are based upon risk factors, psychological needs, coping strategies, personal experience, and social responses.

Thank you. I work at a college in UK (16 to 19) and we are working hard to help the covid kids. A lot of them have attendance issues and motivation, low confidence and struggled with their education all due to covid. We are trying to tackle the issues hopefully I can use some of this

I think the best question (as told to me by a child survivor) is did anything happen that made you uncomfortable.

That way there's no accusation and they don't have to decide was it abuse or grooming or bullying or teasing. Uncomfortable is a broad term and it covers anything out of the ordinary

Mental health problems in children are usually the result of their parents . I work in psych most of the kids who come into the hospital it is problems with parents and parenting. But it is much easier to pin it on the kids. Reactive disorder is an attachment trauma when a child does not form with their primary care. So how are we dealing with this problem. Lack of providers, cost of mental health care high insurance deductibles, coinsurance, our system does not treat the root cause of the problem we bandaid it with drugs that change their brain leading to obesity, diabetes, high/ low blood pressure, tachycardia.Parents don’t want to work on their parenting skills and how they relate to their kids. Don’t just do treatment where your focusing just on the kid instead of looking at the family system

My teen daughter is suffering from crushing anxiety about going into the school building. She's sort of always had a tough time going to school through the years, but nothing like the massive panic attacks she's having right now. It hurts my heart to see her this bad off. She has a nice high school, with very helpful teachers and staff, great curriculum.

She is getting help with a great therapist and has been with her for some time, but I feel like there's an anxiety brick wall that she can't get past right now. A big hug to all!

Agree. “Social media can be used in a positive way.” Thanks for this update on what the literature is reporting. Has anyone studied the impact of THIS channel on me and my family during the pandemic? ❤❤❤

Could you do a video about how school shootings is also on top of the Covid kids and how they might be doubly affected? I do understand it might be too sensitive for YouTuble. Thank you. My six and 11 year old grandchildren in Texas were affected by this Thank you. ❤

For only children and for children with special needs, it was hell.
And yes, it still is. We haven’t recovered yet…
