The "Chromatics" is a unique, high-energy, a-capella vocal band that delights audiences across the country. Originally formed in 1993 at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, the Chromies wrote and produced their astronomically correct songs, a project they call AstroCappella. Performed in this video, "The Sun Song" is among their many compositions. One of their CD's has even flown in space!

The Chromatics are an a professional cappella group, which started at Goddard Space Flight Center and sprung out of the Centers drama group called Music and Drama (MAD). There are 3 GSFC employees in this group who are astrophysicists working at Goddard.....Padi Boyd, Alan Smale, and his wife Karen Smale. Theyve sung locally and at many Goddard events. They have several CDs, their own website......and write many of their own songs.

I'm 14, and I love this song. Sometimes, I can stand up and recite the lines from the song without singing, and everybody is so impressed, I also love Shoulder of Giants, and all the other Chromatic planet astromnomical songs. Or whatever you would call them. SO educational!

NASA also has several advantages that researchers limited to earth don't have because of their space station. Everything from environmental research to medical research goes on aboard the international space station. A semi-recent result of research aboard the space station was a non-invasive probe that could be used to diagnose Cataracts disease months before symptoms occur, and is much more accurate than anything we have used before. They're using it to develop ways to treat diseases like -

within 3 years we'll know how many planets in our galaxy have the right conditions to support life, thanks to Kepler. By 2020, we'll have an outpost on the moon for research, and possibly for the production of Rocket Fuel, using resources on the moon, saving valuable money and resources on Earth. By 2030 (iirc) we hope to have one on Mars. NASA continues to develop technology that is useful in far more ways that space exploration. Their life support system gave birth to an excellent -

-- water filtration system that is now used by dentists and educators, and saves them hundreds of thousands of dollars every year. They're also developing new ways of producing energy, since you obviously need a lot of it for prolonged space exploration. They're studying the earth from space to get a better view of global warming and other environmental problems. Almost every plane both military and civilian since NASA's establishment has benefited from NASA testing or innovation.

Not really, I was trying to find something on the sun on youtube for a research project, and I found this. This song is what introduced me to Chromatics, but I watched this first.
