Yeah, and Risotto was invented by a German assistant named Otto.

I want the extended version with all the origin stories you discovered. I am a sucker for cute, not necessarily based on fact, stories! 😁

Pane = bread
Panetto = small bread
Panettone = big small bread

We need a book of all the "small boy in the kitchen stepped in to save the day and a new traditional recipe was born" stories because there are A LOT of them.

in Brazil, my venetian-brazilian mom and grandma always told me:
" In Italy, there was this baker named Tone, who wanted to marry the daughter of a rich man. To impress the man, he baked this dessert, and the man loved it so much he allowed Tone to marry his daughter, and the dessert spread and got named after him"

As an Italian if you can buy an Italian made Panettone try it, it's so good :) But try also Pandoro, here in Italy we eat both for Christmas.

This is very popular in my country Argentina, we call it "Pan Dulce", meaning sweet bread

LOL, you're right: this story IS ridiculous! Thank you for the laugh! 😅

It's simply impossible, because "Tony" is the english short form of "Anthony"... In italian is Tonino or Tonio. So It would have been something like "panettonino", which is a strange "small bread" saying (while "panettone" is a way to say "large bread")

Geez oh man Max even your shorts are filled with humor and education. Love from SC ❤️

Off topic, but Holy carp, you have beautiful eyes Max.

Panettone makes excellent French Toast - which I guess should then be French Italian Toast.

My family’s Christmas breakfast tradition is Panettone French toast with mascarpone and berries. Came from one year trying to decide between French toast and panettone, we decided on both. It’s amazing.

Hey there Mr. Max Miller. The synchronicity that I watched your video on Panettone and its origins. The same week I saw a video made by Coco Peru about her quest for Panettone at an Italian shop there in L.A. it occurred to me, since you both live in L.A., there was a collaboration there! Anyway I enjoy your channel and my Husband purchased your book at a small bookshop called "The Regulator Bookshop" in Durham, N.C. We brought it back to Mexico with us, a very enjoyable read Thanks... Chad

People here in Brazil go crazy for this stuff. This one and "chocotone", which is the same thing but with chocolate instead of fruits.
raf.raf.
"Panetone" is such a big thing in Brazil, that we have it with chocolate (fudge and chips), doce de leite, ice cream, and many other things instead of candied fruit. My favorite, though, still is the classic one.
Btw, you can have panettone in Brazil all year long. The country is paradise for panettone lovers

The fact you didn’t mention Brazil once in a video about PANETONE killed me a little ngm 😭

This was hilarious ... Thank you for the way you deliver these Stories of " the False History "... I had to watch it several times! ( I was previously married to a Chef, and I am glad I became acquainted with your Channel.)
