North American Bad Drivers & Idiots In Cars #236 | Defensive Driving Training (w/ Commentary)

*Accidents can be prevented with defensive driving. Here is how you can protect yourself and others by being a defensive driver.

This is our next video in the *defensive driving training series* that shows situations on the roads, such as bad drivers, driving fails, road rage, idiots in cars, instant karma, close call,... for educational purposes, so the drivers can learn from other mistakes, not their own. *There's a storyline & our own unique contributions (commentary) at the beginning or at the end of the clips throughout the video.

Our videos are not "reused content". For keeping our works unique and original, we work hard by editing footage with the ON-SCREEN defensive driving tips, storyline, personal opinion, analysis, traffic rules explanation, witness/victim's advice, or recommendation. We have also added the special editing effects, trimming, zooming, audio level normalization, etc with the footage. This whole process required 3-5 workdays for producing a video.

We believe these videos with our unique commentary can be used as an educational resource and guide for viewers to avoid the dangers caused by other people's bad driving and help lower the risk behind the wheel.

1:15 It was difficult for me to tell the vehicle was in the lane of the cammer. Was in a car accident where drunk driver came into my lane and before I knew it their vehicle was right in front of me. I was able to start a turn to the left but we still had a head on at 65kmp. To this day I can't believe how difficult it was to tell if driver was in my lane or theirs. Great driving on part of cammer.
P.S. Did not know it's best to stay off brakes when a flat happens, thanks for the info on that!

#12, in trucking school these teach you to press the accelerator to the floor for a moment to override the tendency for it to pull to one side.

1:01 - 1:18 Great driving by cammer !! ... (a) trying to alert oncoming driver (b) avoiding the head-on (c) successfully re-entering the road. ( so many others seem to over-react while off the road & then fly back onto the & across the road out of control.)

0:43 Don't you sometimes wish that you could make the move that the pickup truck made on the tailgating caddie, but with a piece of road debris instead of the innocent driver in front of them?

I can’t believe the lady from the first video. She didn’t even seem fazed like it happens all the time.

RE: #3, @ Situational awareness is probably something that's missed by a lot of new driver instructors. You've got to know what's going on further down the road if you have any hope of avoiding an accident like this What for vehicles suddenly slowing in other lanes. If that's happening, YOU should be slowing down as well. Check your sides, in case you have to make a sudden avoidance move - is it clear and safe to do so?

1:27 Not even a mention of the cammer being completely and unnecessarily on the opposite side of the road seconds before the close call?

#1 If you're gonna j-walk at least do it safely, I know my mom and I cross at a non-intersection point, because people in our area drive like absolute lunatics (If we MUST cross at the walk we sometimes have to surrender right-of-way for 3 or 4 lights). We live out in the country though, and they're much less careful about watching for pedestrians.
They've done stuff like signal one way, change signals mid turn and swing around the other corner, seen a Tesla whip around 3 other cars making a left turn to beat a yellow light, several people ignore the "no turn on red from Xam to Xpm" (which has almost cost me my safety), and semis parking on the corner and completely blocking the crosswalk so you either have to cross behind the semi or go way out into the intersection. Have actually heard customers at work say stuff like "I can't *Stand* people who walk to work in this town, what, do they think they're better than the rest of us? I hope someone hits them soon."

Drunk driving really should result in mandatory jail time. You know it's wrong, you know it's dangerous... so don't endanger everyone around you, eh?

#1 - Personally, I'd have stopped and told that woman that she must not love her kids very much because she's so lazy that she couldn't be bothered to walk the 50-60 feet to the intersection to cross properly.

As I watch these videos, about everyone I see there is a problem, either with the cammer or the explanation they give. I was a professional driver with 3 million miles, and I have seen every type of accident that could happen. I have been witness, gone to court as witness and as a professional, I have helped many people out of situations that could have gone bad for them. First off, take the dam horns away from these cammer's. Doesn't make any difference how far they are away from someone who pulls out, they start blowing their horns, some keep blowing even though they are a block away. Darn, ninety nine percent of these horn blowers have a great chance of taking their foot off the brake and letting the other car merge. I guess the word courtesy is out of the dictionary. Stop tailgating, always look ahead and
