I ordered one during the reveal when Tesla Model Y was priced at $68k without incentives. Volvo EX90 made sense at $80k. But I just purchased Tesla Model Y for $45, 490 ($53k-$7.5k tax credit). Now Tesla made more sense. Big difference for first time buyer in case don’t like the EV. It took 2 months to get the order deposit back from the dealer though. Have Model Y and wife drives 2020 XC90, so smaller and cheaper EV made more sense.

The popular car going forward will be like this one, SUV / station wagon like. Lots of carrying volume. If done right, it is more aero than a fast back, if what I learned as a kid in the '60s is still true.

EX90 in Switzerland starts at EUR 110'000 around the same price for the rest of Europe. Owning a XC90 hybrid for the past 5 years, this would be a logical step to BEV, but the price is big, probably too much compared to the US version. At present time, there is no alternative, but competition will hopefully come.

I know the one they have parked out front of the entrance to my local Costco looks very sharp. It looks almost like the C-30 the roof line looks slightly different, but could be the one you showed has a Black Roof this one is White

Here in the S.F. Bay Area, we're beginning to see Rivian R1S. Plenty of folks seek spacious SUVs, and this Volvo may appeal to those buyers. For professionals, the price isn't a problem for such luxury.

How many did they build before they closed the order book? At that price, and size one would wonder.
Yes, please mention Lotus, which is owned by Proton, which in turn is owned by Geely. The EV Hethel have in mind is absolutely desirable.
The Volvo EV version available in Oz (I can’t remember which it is), could easily be overlooked with too many other model offers, IMO. So, probably best to keep it 3 models only.

My over $70k 2023 Volvo C40 has a steering wheel vibration very bad when driving 65 mph, making it quite annoying and UNSAFE to drive, especially at high speeds, contacting Volvo case was opened over 2 months still no solution or update.

Fantastic News!!! It’s not just about Tesla, but make no mistake the ONLY reason this is happening is because Tesla forced the issue .. after all both GM and Toyota were decades ahead of Tesla, full-stop, period, as was Nissan .. I’m getting off topic, MORE NEWS LIKE THIS from other car companies doing the RIGHT THING!!! Way to go Volvo; I hope they are able to increase production!!!

I would classify Volvo as premium since the Geely take over and getting away from ford, all the current body style cars. They are the equal inside to the German makes, I bought a XC40 because it was nicer than the German equivalent.
