I had that 14-150 Zuiko and agree, it works very well given its range and specification. The problem with all of these compromise lenses is they drop off at the long end and leave you with poor detail rendition, so you can often do better with a shorter range and maybe a (small) amount of cropping. On m4/3 I currently use the 12-45 and the new OM System 40-150 f4. This adds a little weight, but you can split it, take the tele only when you need it. The 40-150 f4 is a superb optic all through its range, use it at any focal length fearlessly. You get top notch output from 12-150 and with (say) an OM-5 you are weighing in at just over 1kg, but fully weather sealed etc. if that matters. This is from a travel / hiking perspective rather than street / portrait I should add.

I love the sharpness straight out of the camera of the 12-45 f4, it is simply unmatched by almost any MFT zoom, I feel. But you are right that after postprocessing, there is often little difference between the two in terms of image quality.

I have the GX9 and Lumix 14-140 II. Excellent lens.
Also, the Lumix 35-100 f4-5.6, try it! It is about the size of a small prime but a huge range. The image quality is superb.

Nice review. I’d be interested to know how the lens performs in terms of chromatic aberration. Is that a problem on this lens?

Thank you for this video! I had problems deciding between 14-150 and 12-45. I ended up with 14-150 for the reach, OM20mm (same lens hood) assists for picture quality/ low light and Leica 9mm at the wide end.

I love the 14-140mm II LUMIX on my G9. To me it represents the essence of MFT in terms of striking the right balance between size, value and quality. 👍

Thank you, well done again! Question: do you know the Lumix 14-140 3.5-5.6, that I'm using a lot on my GX9? Your Olympus super zoom looks even smaller and lighter, so I'd be very curious how the two compare in terms of image quality! Would the IS of the Olympus lens also work on my Panasonic GX9 body? I think with such a long lens, IS would be quite important for me...
