In this free Unreal Engine 4 for beginners tutorial video you will learn all of the basics of creating an environment in UE4. This includes setting UE4 up properly, creating and texturing a landscape, importing 3D models (static meshes), adding grass and trees with the foliage tool and using lighting and post -processing effects.

If you want to take your learning beyond what I have been able to cover in my videos then I recommend checking out the following:

IMPORTANT FOR THE VERTEX GRASS. I am using UE 4.25.1 - When you get to the part about applying Wind to the grass using the vertex colors, don't forget to change "Vertex Color Import Option" from the default "Ignore" to "replace." Otherwise, the wind will continue to affect the entire model. :)

Mate, I dont know if it's me but your tutorial is the most easy but most importantly comprehensive that I've found. I needed something like this to get started and I've watched maybe 50 or 60 "unreal tutorials for beginners" and something about those just wasn't sticking. You've earned yourself a subscription. Thanks a mil.

You deserve a gold medal for this tutorial. Most tutorials don't even explain properly on what's going on, they just click on something and say "so yeh, you click over here, yadah yadah yadah" but don't even explain properly or remind people what it is, or what the function of that action, button, or what are other simple ways to do this and that etc etc. They just bombard the whole tutorial altogether

Honestly, this tutorial is phenomenal but i think the best part is all the geometry and textures and materials you get from it. I now basically have everything i need to build any kind of basic outdoor scene. Really appreciate it man!

Nearly three hours into this and I remain absolutely blown away by the production quality, wealth of information, and lighthearted atmosphere. As a total beginner, having only very basic Python experience but having never used a game engine before, I feel the need to thank you sincerely for the work you put into this. Can't wait to explore the rest of your UE4 tutorials, cheers!
