Our Kwanzaa celebrations are one of my favorite childhood memories. The whole family would gather around across multiple generations and we’d tell stories and light the candles.

Kwanzaa was invented in1966. Kamala was born in 1964. And her family had celebrated it for generations.

Harris was born in '64 and Kwanzaa started in '66. As far as I know Donald Harris wasn't a part of any black power movements and that's who would have been celebrating Kwanzaa in those early years your Black Panther, Black Power, conscious community and black radical types.

You see the beauty of Kwanzaa (and what makes it different and unique among holidays and celebrations, ) is the guy who started Kwanzaa, Maulana Karenga IS STILL ALIVE! So since Kwanzaa was celebrated among a small group of adherents who shared the same philosophy and ran in the same circles I'm sure that Karenga could verify that Donald and Shyamala Harris were bringing their daughters to Kwanzaa celebrations.
