French 🇫🇷 lessons vs. reality #french #shorts #learnfrench

Whenever we learn or “study” a language 📚 it’s often overly correct and has sometimes little to do with how people actually speak 🗣and communicate in it. Don’t forget to learn and absorb how native speakers actually use their language. That is also one of the reasons why there is such a huge discrepancy between what you learned in your French or language lessons and how native speakers interact.

The French I learned in school had little to do with what I learned when moving to France 🇫🇷. People were using slangs and words that I had never heard of. Sometimes, more often than not, you got to lay the books aside and learn from real-life situations and conversations.

Do you have any experiences with that?

Little tip (As a French):
These abbreviations are tu use with moderation:
You can use it with your family and friends, but use je ne sais, ne t’inquiète pas (or use the vouvoiement) with your teachers, neighbors, strangers… It would be rude if you say cher pas (another abréviation of je ne sais pas) to the president (logically)

Thanks for the tips, although I got a French friend who always told us “Bon appetit”. She was raised in Belgium most of her life so I’m not sure if that has something to do with it.

Should I learn French from an American or someone who is from France? I feel an American tutor can relate more to the struggles of pronunciations, but I don't want to assume this. What are your thoughts?

Love this. I hope we can be friends one day. I'm studying 5 languages simultaneously at the same time. However, there's a method I use to make it possible to do so. ❤😁
