Turbulence on a commercial flight must be a joke to them

The eye is peaceful but around you it really looks scary

I like how they told Miami center they were doing a 180 turn. Like another plane is gonna be anywhere around them.

I grew up in Japan my whole life, and we used to see Typhoons and Monsoons like I never experienced in America --bar some times in Pennsylvania and rarely in New York. When the eye of the storm reached us back home in JP, I'll never forget walking out of my house to see what looked like a beautiful, sunny day. Then the incredibly powerful torrential rain and wind came back seemingly as fast as it had gone. I've been on many planes in my life, quite a few through some choppy, dicey ass weather. But nothing, nothing even remotely close to what these absolute legends did. Its just so unbelievable to see it, I guess you really gotta be there.

The eye of these storms is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful sights in nature. I recall one scientist/pilot referring to it as the "stadium effect." I tip my hat to the amazing scientists and flight crew.

I'd probably die shitting my pants but I'd still hop into that plane without hesitation. What an experience that must be.

I had absolutely NO clue how amazing the eye of a hurricane looked. I knew that when they showed images of hurricanes on maps that it definitely had a ring in the middle called the eye. And i figured that there would be some type of opening there, but i had no idea the opening was this big and that gorgeous. I'm from Texas, so while we've been hit by a few hurricanes, being in the northern part of Texas, all we get are really bad and windy thunderstorms. I've got a whole new respect for hurricanes after watching this video. They're as deadly as they are gorgeous and most definitely should be respected...but viewing inside the eye of one of these things was just amazing. Thank you for uploading this for us to see. Very very cool!

Reminds me of Bioshock Infinite at the beginning when you break through into the sky for the first time.

These men have some balls! I was in Iraq and Afghanistan and no way I would fly into a hurricane lol.

My dad flew hurricane hunters in the late 1950's/1960's. When they were up in Carol the aircraft rocked so hard that the pilot in command broke his collarbone from the force of hitting his harness.

I am so grateful for these very brave men and women. By putting their own lives in jeopardy, they get the information that is used to save so many lives. If only more folks would take this seriously and get out in time. This data has saved me, my pets, and my friends. When Katrina hit my coastal town, everyone that stayed died, everyone! Again, THANK YOU for the brave work you do!

I just don't get one thing. How can the plane fly with the weight of those giant balls? :D
