Learn more:

Shortening the hip flexors will cause the following patterns: If one or more of the hip flexors is short, the pelvis will tend towards greater anterior tilt increasing lumbar lordosis. This condition will cause high compression loads on the posterior part of the lower vertebrae.

In other words, limitation in hip flexor extension will be expressed immediately in overextension in the lower back. On the other hand, the better the hip joint extension, the easier lumbar spine extension will be and in the upward bow, pose extension will be well and evenly divided over more joints.

How can some yogis do extreme deep backbending without compressing lumbar disks? Pelvis can't be posteriorly tilted in very deep backbends right? Such as Kapotasana or Ghanda Bherundasana
