The thing is standards and expectations are not the same thing and that’s were people get it all wrong. Having expectation of people is the problem. To expect = to anticipate ones actions. Having standards of who you keep around and for yourself is much needed. You observe and learn who a person is and who you are and you decide on how you let them into your life and how you interact with them and the position you give them in your life.

Having expectations in people makes you unhappy. I tried applying this mindset to my workplace earlier on in my career and it worked. It actually helped me to plan better and spend less time outing fires.

Historically I have had, and to a degree continue to have, expectations that are too high concerning my employment. These are good words from Dave. I need to learn to lower my job expectations in order to be happy with what I do.

I had to learn to set lower expectations on people. I personally have high expectations and set high standards for my life. I learned a lot of people don’t and as Dave said lower expectations means no one gets let down.

I always compare myself and my family to the other side of the world.
The family living in poor side of Ethiopia, Nigeria, Cameroon, Cambodia, Venezuela, Mexico, and etc are desperately looking for 1 meal to feed the family.
I don't have that issue nor my family has any of pressure of missing a meal & buying nice things on Amazon.

This always helped me realize that I'm thankful and grateful to God. 🙏
