This is one honest, straight to the point no nonsense review/impression. I agree with the hilux being outdated, stiff suspension and somewhat on the pricey side. But then again, many people would buy a pick up for its purpose and that is, it being a utility vehicle. Though some buy pick up as their daily drive for them to "feel safer" because of its ride height and its size. At the end of the day Toyota followers will choose Toyota becuase it is a Toyota. Reliable and tested.

Your test unit is a 2022 model which has no TSS like the adaptive cruise. The 2023 models do have TSS even the rear AC vents.

tried the hilux before buying the 2023 ranger and I must say the reviewer is right. most of your money will go to owning the badge, in ford they give you more bang for your buck.

the unit you drove was 2021 with no adas. the 22-23 has adaptive cruise. button located below the right steering wheel controls. probably an old but not so old unit for test drive

Multitude of accessories in car sometimes are not convenient or suitable in some other aspects simplicity and practicality way much better rather than techy one's. The main ingredients of choosing a car their purpose, reliability, durability and the quality of its brand that has been around/built through the years.

It's normal for a aging pick up to be honest just like other japanese pick ups except for the isuzu mazda twins. Ranger next gen would take the cake all day. For the NVH compared to ranger yes but compared to let's say navara, the navara is much noisier than this even the engine alone and sound insulation. Its similar to the nvh on strada but you can hear more road noise a bit on the strada. The engine can be playful once it is fully break in based on experience compared when it is new. It has the similar character of the previous 3.2 ranger but has more top end power than sa 3.2 ranger. Other than that I do agree with this honest review tho. I hope the next gen hilux will be so much better than the current gen based on other newly release toyota products these days.

Toyota Design Ethos is - "Let our competitors feature new tech, then will follow after". Thus them being heard off as a reliable brand. Has its pros & cons.. Comments below.. ;-)

i am into lots of offroad with a back load and a towed generator unit, soo GRS is suited for me as it gives comfort and the strength i need for a pick up truck.

Thanks verymuch for the review! to add some perspective, .
2. @8:50mins, reason behind is.... In-terms of Durability and availability of Toyota motor parts, starting from Engine, transmission, down to suspension, etc. in most opinions and track record, toyota still has the most Durable Motor parts... in which we all get because "Car maintenance" is the other half of buying a BNew or 2ndh Car..

At the end of the day majority of the Pinoy ends up on buying a Toyota, even a second hand Toyota still higher resale value compare to other brands.

"I tried to look for potholes... but I realised I didn't need too."

Ouch! Can't think of a better line to describe Hilux's suspension! 🤣

I used to drive Hilux working in the rural areas and it felt like riding a wild horse. I feel sorry for anyone who have to sit at the back seat of a Hilux on a daily basis.

But then recently, I tested drive a next gen Ford....

Toyota Phil is selling outdated outgoing units, maybe.
Preparing for newer versions?

Totoo lahat sinabi niya sa review, mahina ang NVH isolation ng hilux, gaya ng dati magtagtag parin, napakalayo when it comes to comfort compare to ford ranger.

The Hilux will be more reliable for years compared to it's competitors. It may not be as techy but will be less headache for decades.

Ford is insanely torquey 1 to 2k(becareful in traffic) definitely great for overtaking until you used up all the gears going highway speed. Toyota performs in higher revs reasons why it can towed more consistently without jerking going fast speed, the engine used the torque like sudden burst but in all rev points mid gear change reasons why those engines famous.

Ford still wins tho when it comes to interior...

There's a reason why toyota still beating ford in sales tho, overhauling is the name of the game.

Tried both for a month, while towing a 1.5 ton boat.
