You know I think this twist would have actually been good IF the writers had instilled actual doubt if everything Magne went through was true in the viewers from the first season. If it was done in a way where it made sense. But instead they pulled an ending that didn't fit with what went on before.

Season 3 already wasn’t as strong as the first 2 seasons but that ending just pissed me off

I don't take the ending this way. To me, this is what Eps 5 & 6 mean. In Ep 5, when they were about to face off, Saxa says, "To hell with the legends" (or whatever) and decides to kick off Ragnarok. Magne chooses a different path as well. Peace. Which is not how it was supposed to go. So all the stuff that happens in Ep 6 is Magne having visions of what could have been (or what has been in the past), as the spirit of Thor leaves his body, freeing him, because he broke the cycle that clearly had been repeating. Now freed of Thor's influence, Magne is free to choose his own life.

The last season of Ragnarok demystified the main character and changed the whole root of the story. If that ending was aired on tv twenty years ago, then we would all believe that it would be an interesting plot twist, yet though...bad timing.

Wish I saw this video before I wasted my time watching season 3, truly the worst ending I have ever seen.
They took an excellent show and decimated it entirely with that last episode.

I'm so glad someone else said it. Honestly, I loved every part of seasons 1 and 2 and even a lot of season 3, but the ending took it from a legendary show to a mediocre disappointment.
