This is a very nice illustration. We may apply this to a electric field as well. Your fantastic vedio gave me the idea.

Suppose, there is a uniformly charged ring of radius r, having a net charge q and there is a charged bead of mass m on the axis, at a distance x from the centre, having charge - Q, which on the influence of the electric field, performs simple harmonic motion for small x

Here actually, we can say for small x, the term (r^2+x^2)^(3/2) becomes r^3

So the force is - kQqx/r^3,

ma=-kQqx/r^3

a=(k/m)/r^3. Qq. x

Acellaration is proportional to displacement. This helps to interpret.

Can I ask, when you said that the force is acting upwards when we pull it down because it wants to return to equilibrium, we are also applying a force on it to pull it down right? Do we not think about that when we are looking at SHM?
