Oxford, AstraZeneca expect COVID-19 vaccine to be ready before end-2020

Oxford University, partnered with AstraZeneca, is expected to release results of its COVID-19 vaccine trials shortly. Some sources have said it could even be the first to be rolled out. The Oxford vaccine is easier to store and roll out than the Pfizer jab, as it can be stored at "fridge" temperature. The British government has ordered 100 million doses -- enough to vaccinate the entire UK population.

It is being sold 'at cost' so is much, much cheaper than other vaccines. The R&D was funded by the UK taxpayer over many years, so the UK government can influence the price. AstraZeneca won't make a significant profit on the vaccine until the worldwide pandemic has abated.
