LIVE: House Committee Grill FEMA Administrator on Discrimination Against Trump Supporters | Hurricane Relief | USA News | CNBC TV18
The administrator of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Deanne Criswell, is set to face questions from House lawmakers on Tuesday about the federal government's response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton that caused catastrophic damage in the Southeast.
House Republicans are expected to grill the FEMA chief about revelations that an agency worker said she was told by higher-ups to skip over houses with Trump signs in Florida. Criswell fired the worker and said she found the employee's actions “reprehensible." But the worker, Marn’i Washington, has gone on Fox News and other news outlets to allege there was a directive from her superiors not to go to homes with Trump signs as a way to avoid conflict.
Three House committees are investigating the reports, including the House Homeland Security Committee, which wants to speak to leaders in the FEMA regional office.
“While today’s hearing will focus on FEMA, the issue at hand is part of a larger problem: the urgent need to hold the unelected, unaccountable federal workforce accountable to the American people and to the duly elected President of the United States," House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., is expected to say, according to excerpts from his written remarks.

I spent close to $2000 on purchasing a generator, propane, water jugs, etc not to mention or include tree services, etc due to Hurricane Helene but did not even bother submitting to FEMA. Others lost everything. Makes me sick to think our tax dollars are not going to help the Americans paying into these programs.

Most people here in Asheville didn't even get the minimum $750 to pay for emergencies. We spent a lot of our income trying to get the provisions we needed to cook with how we don't have power for many for example coal, and camping gear. My neighbor has an 18-month-old and I have a three-year-old., we had no other option than we feed our toddlers. Literally! Now we're all behind on our bills, racking up $$$ of late fees risking permanent damage to our credit. Worse, some can't pay rent anymore. Now 40 people in Asheville are about to be evicted from their homes from only one month behind on their rent. One month! Why won't you help?!!!

OK, Ms. Criswell does have a point auditing the hospitals. Our local hospital is definitely sketchy. Google Mission Hospital and HCA and see that they are being investigated and are being sued for fraud and malpractice by our attorney general.

It was reported-that’s how it was dealt with. Doesn’t sound like it’s a system wide issue to me.

I am in New Orleans, I never even bother trying to get help with FEMA after hurricanes anymore… not after what they did after Katrina. They are literally anti-help.

Politics used to civil before Democrats started judging the public for voting Trump. I only got interested in politics after watching the Democrats go insane on Nov. 6th, 2016
