Making a Mysterious Foam

In this video, I will be trying to recreate the popular explosive polymerization video. In this reaction, p-nitroaniline is heated over a flame with some sulfuric acid. Initially, not too much happens, but then suddenly, a large black snake appears. To do this, I will first need to make some p-nitroaniline, from acetanilide that I made in a previous video.

The foam that is formed is resistant to fire.

I think with the multiple trials you did, you got a great batch of results, because you showed the difference between less sulfuric acid and more, less heat and more, etc. Don't worry that you didn't get the big showy black pillar. You did great.
