Theo in Phoenix is such an amazing young man. He's an example to all generations of how to approach life and responsibility. I know he will go far and be a successful tattoo artist.

When my oldest was little, I told him that if he held onto the cart, followed my directions and didn't ask for anything or whine, we could go to the toy aisle and he could push the buttons on the toys. It was understood he wouldn't get any of the toys. I would give him praise throughout the shopping trip of what a great job he was doing. He never once didn't earn the privilege of pushing those buttons, nor did he ever ask for anything. He also knew I always kept my word, and we'd have been out the door in a heartbeat if he didn't follow my directions.

When I became a single mom of 3, I started playing games with the kids in real situations. Everyone guess the grocery bill!!! Guess the school Supplies bill!!! Look for sales because you get more school clothes!!! See how many new items with tags we can find at the Salvation Army!!! They are very good at it as late teens and adults.😁

6:00 the mom that called and wanted to pay for different things for her son, as a teacher training in the science of reading get that baby some hooked on phonics and if you do pay a tutor make sure it’s someone that knows how important phonics is. It makes a huge difference. Keep your chin up!

Personally, I love hearing from all the different personalities. I can relate to each personality at a different level and I feel more motivated to keep going with the Ramsey plan. Thanks for all you do Ramsey team!

I have been in a situation similar to Polly. She can do it all she wants but then when he's spent all the money and groceries need to be bought she prob feels the only option is to use the credit card. She shouldn't have been shamed for having more of the debt or been told she should set the example first. This is advice from someone who's never been in this position. I could cry for her right now and for my former self that was in that same situation. Now divorced from that situation. 😢

Tattoo artist likely will have to pay hefty self-employment tax, 15% or more? Make sure it's in RED on the first line of your budget page.
Theo + family are winning!

Fun episode! I just really would’ve wanted to hear Dave’s take on dorm guy though lol.

I feel like Polly needed very direct advice instead of the dancing around her relationship issues. Yes, the relationship issues are part of the equation, but she needed to be told point blank exactly what to do. Make a budget, Sell that house, sell that camper, cut up the cards, etc. If he isn’t willing to work with her (that is if she’s truly ready to get financial peace) then she should leave him. That call was really sad. Making so much money a month only to have maxed out credit cards and living paycheck to paycheck with a mountain of debt at retirement age. They are 1 job loss away from homelessness.

When Rachel finally had enough and told Lorraine that they are broke and can't afford a house I was cheering inside, she pulled out her inner Dave 🤣 homeownership is great, but it is only a blessing if you can afford it.

I wish I would have found Ramsey well before I went to college. I had no idea what I was doing. The predatory lenders got me.

This is my 4 year-old and I give the same speech prior to entering the store.

Thought Rachel should have walked Greg through his numbers a little more on that last call; sounds like he has $210k invested in the land and $210k cash on hand. If he keeps saving $6k a month he could pay cash in 3 years and it would take a year to build so it sounds like he could have the option to build in 2 years and end up with a cash home.

If the airplane mechanic got a business degree and remained a mechanic, what he learned in school would atrophy and it would be difficult to land a “business” role at a company with no business experience and a stale education.
