Agreed. It’s not just about meaning. It’s about the art, and how that art communicates feelings in a way prose couldn’t. Much like stories aren’t just a conveyor belt of plot points, but an experience.

Yes!—a good poem *catches fire* and does more than what it says. It seems to ascend to the condition of music, to take on an incantatory quality, to hypnotize.

Poetry we feel in our bodies, intution, guts, hearts, spirits, and intellect. I agree, poetry speaks about the Mystery, and is always in some sense the mystery itself: impossible to truly understand, and felt differently with each reading.

Yes! Rhythm and voice hook me right away always. Also the length of a poem itself is something to take notice of.

In short, poems are art. They only need to be beautiful in some sense.

This is why poems suck in translation...

You mean “good” poetry.
“Pointy birds, a pointy pointy…”

I don't even understand the meaning most of the time. Ain't no way I'm gonna get whatever the rest is.

What a load of crap. If there's ambiguity is because those used words are polysemic. Words have meanings and describe ideas, there's no "beyond meaning", just the art of playing with (wait for it) the meaning or meanings of words. You sound like Meghan Markle talking about how the universe changed after her birth.
