Expedient to what ends? He must have some goals and preferences which guide his actions and he explains moral behaviour in terms of. In other words he's just forming a subjective consequentialist morality like everyone else.

At least with Mormons, they believe they can not repent of murder. They can repent of anything else, except blaspheming the Holy Ghost, the “unpardonable sin.” However, Mormons can apparently be forgiven for everything else, no matter how bad the sin.

The Mormon unpardonable sin: “The unpardonable sin is to willfully deny and defy the Holy Ghost after having received His witness. No man can sin against light until he has it; nor against the Holy Ghost, until after he has received it by the gift of God through the appointed channel or way.”

(The “appointed channel or way” is through the Mormon church and its ordinances.)

Hypergrace is an interesting doctrine, rare example of taking literally the sola fide doctrine and all the verses about how the law was abolished, how believers are free from the law, not under law, how they dont sin bc who sins is of the devil, etc.. Have him back on, its difficult to find hypergrace preachers.
