a hole with a knife!!!  I fully understand that in an emergency I might have to do that, but, man, that hurt to watch!!

Sweet blade!  That coating really held up well!  Not a bad price, either!

Congrats to Mary G and David S!!

Good review, I like the blade design but I would most likely agree on the handle, looks really thick in the middle.

For the price the schf9 is a great chopper, it's one of the favorite knives I build my survival sheaths around.

I also have 2 of theses knives. One for my 72 hour bag, one for my camping pack.
Absolutely love these. The one in my camping gear has had the tar beat out of it.The finish has worn off some, no biggy, just put a light coat of oil on it.
Good to see another review of this knife. Hope yours holds up as well as mine has.
Ive never used mine for digging, but assumed it  would do that if needed.
The tree root as cordage idea is great, had never thought of that.

Hi J.j., in one of your videos, you mentioned that, that 7" knife was your preferred size for your 3knife carry, I too am a 3knife carry guy, but for me a 9"+ knife is ideal for me as the large knife in my system, and this video agreed with me why I like that size, I have a set I'm very found of, and the 7" knife is my middle size knife ( camp knife ), and is on my person all the time, encase I'm separated from my pack, which is a big part of my system, and on my belt are essentials too, not too heavy either, I hope you don't mind my comments, but I enjoy your vid's, just encase your wondering which 7"knife anyone would carry as a midsize knife, that set is my BK's, the BK-17, 7, and the Ka-Bar Swabbie, the knives match almost perfectly, and very functional, you on the other hand made me interested in the Scharades knives, I do use my knives hard, at that price range, if it could take my thumping and hold up would be great, it seems that knife would hold up for me.

the 'trick' to digging with your knife and not damaging it, is not to stab the earth,
just push it in at a slow speed, and drag back with the flat side of the blade,

i was taught that by ww2 Vet, after i took the point off my k-bar, ... lol

Good review. Are the grips removable/slash interchangeable? Might help it out a bit. My BK has that ability and was just wondering.

I thought the SCHF 26 was Schrade's extreme survival knife...

Like mine so much I just bought another at $35.shipped. It seems Schrade is switching to 8cr13 MOV steel, so if you want one in 1095 I wouldn't wait to long. You could make your own scales for a more comfortable grip.
