Secession is legal in Canada, and Ottawa is powerless to stop it. Alberta and Saskatchewan -- states #51 and #52.

I don’t understand. If BC is anti oil then why do they want oil?

Canada has a lot to lose. If this doesn't go through we will be even more dependent on the USA.

Not one person In BC i have talked to are against the pipe line please build it, John Horgan doesn't speak for us. But on the other hand for the good of the Country we should be refining our own product....obviously

Just because less oil makes it overseas does not mean long-term harm to the Canadian economy. A lower dollar means more domestic trade and less imports. It will, in the long run, benefit Canadian businesses with Canadian suppliers and Canadian customers, keeping more money in Canada. This is basic economics, and it's interesting how oil pundits ignore this fact.

NDP is still in the way. What if Horgan sue Conservatives after Trudeau step down?

If the pipeline goes through, will it open the door for oil exploration on the coast?

Hey, it only make sense to stop all this dangerous oil from flowing into BC. Isn't that what they want?

The needs of the many outweigh the wants of a few.

How about Alberta and the other governments in Canada agree that in the event of a pipeline or tanker spill then Banff, Jasper, and Prince Albert National Parks are to be clear cut of every tree, shrub and bush. The economic and environmental impacts would be about the same, and last about as long. Such a sharing of risks would be in the "national interest" to help get the pipeline built, after all.

I'm curious, where does Alberta get it's electricity and water from, do they provide their own or does it come from BC?

Why this idiotic song and dance. The B.C. government has said it doesn't want Alberta's "dirty" oil, so we should accommodate them. The same goes for natural gas. The B.C. government wants to build an LNG plant at Kitimat. I'm not sure whether or not B.C, has sufficient gas reserves to guarantee the long term needs of this project, but I do know they cannot supply both the new project and their existing customers without a major pipeline expansion. In the spirit of neighbourly co-operation Alberta should relieve them of the burden of this decision by turning of the gas taps as well.

It is time for the adults to come to the room in BC. Andrew Weaver and Elizebeth are like little children who cry wolf. There has never been an oil spill in BC waters from double-hulled tankers that ply the BC waters. That is since the inception of the terminal 61 years ago. Why all of a sudden will there be a massive oil tanker incident? Horgan needs to understand it's neighbor Alberta has an oil industry that is extremely important to the Canadian economy.Horgan needs to be a politician and understand compromise is needed in this situation. The 4 Green members of the BC government do not run the province his party in fact does. He is the leader, not Andrew Weaver. The fact is the world still runs on a vital commodity called oil.The Kinder Morgan twined pipeline brings wealth and prosperity to all of Canada. The constant delay tactics by the BC government is plain stupid. Canada is a country that needs a tidewater access for oil and natural gas LNG progets.
