This video will show the necessary steps to update your Google Nexus 7 to the latest Android version 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. This is the same as the official OTA update. If you have a custom recovery installed, you SHOULD be able to just put the zip file below onto your internal storage and hit "install zip from sd card" within your custom recovery. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hopefully this video helps.

no, if you're on a custom rom this won't work. Either go back to stock, or just wait for a dev to post a 4.2.2 rom (recommended)

Excellent, I had a bit of hassle doing this on XP, but a bit of research and a few registry tweaks and I'm now on 4.2.2 thanks!

yeah, you need to install pdanet, it's the easiest way to fix this. also, make sure that pc installs drivers for android while tablet is in the recovery state! you can check that via adb devices command, while your device is in recovery and connected

Did you install a custom rom? If not, just put the update zip on your internal and hit install zip from sd if you have a custom recovery

Hey, Tim. Great video. On a custom recovery install (TWRP and CWM respectively) I got a status 7 error. I had the latest version of each.

Hi! I am trying to update to Android 4.4 on my nexus 7 2013 and so far, everything is going well except that i cant access the "menu" from the recovery state. All that happens is that i see the android with a red exclamation mark (no text) but it wont open the menu which would allow me to apply adb update. Can you please help?

Hey Tim, I would really, really like stock Jelly Bean on my Sprint GS3. Is there such a thing like a AOSP for that phone?
