India to get new Chief of Defense Staff; What Rajnath Singh said about the appointment

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has announced that the appointment of the next Chief of Defence Staff will be made soon. The government has already initiated the process of selecting new CDS. Last week, the govt had amended Army, Air Force and Navy acts. The post of Chief of Defence Staff has been lying vacant since the death of General Bipin Rawat in December last year. He took charge as India's first Chief of Defence Staff on January 1, 2020. Watch this video to know more.

If at all recently retired service chiefs are considered for the post of CDS then former Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh is definitely a very strong contender for the post, and infact a very competent and capable officer, who if appointed as CDS shall fulfill it's duties and responsibilities with great aplomb and excellence.

All gens and equilants in other two services, once risen to become chief of their service, all are competent and no question about it. It would be most prudent and rationale to appoint the senior-most serving chief as CDS.
