Fun fact: after the fire of Notre dame, Ubisoft gave the 3d scans that they used to build the cathedral to the builders who were rebuilding it.

Their excuse for Altair being unable to swim is actually pretty smart lol. We of course know it was just a limitation within the game or its engine, but in-game characters acknowledging it and saying it was a bug in the Animus OS makes sense lorewise. Rebecca always said Abstergo had no imagination and their systems were very inferior to hers.

During COVID, Ubisoft gifted "Discovery Tour" Ancient Egypt (Origins) and Ancient Greece (Odyssey) for free as educational support. When the fire of Notre Dame happened in 2019 they gave the game for free to remember the actual cathedral. Amazing.

The in-game version of Notre Dame was considered as a blueprint for rebuilding the real live cathedral, after the fire destroyed parts of it. This idea even inspired gamers to buy or replay Assassin’s Creed Unity!

Ubisoft: "We cut the scalping mechanic cause it seemed too brutal to fit in AC 3."

Also Ubisoft: "In Valhalla, you can use a man's severed limbs to beat him to death."

Good thing they fixed that glitch in the animus, or Black Flag would have been pretty odd, since at least 70% of it is on the water 😂

Plus a bonus to the Norte Dame one.
When Norte Dame half burnt down Ubisoft gave them the 3d scans they used to build the cathedral. Also the actual game model and its toure mode was used as reference points.

The game model do to its detail became the blueprint for its real life reconstruction. Fate works in weird ways

Despite the liberties they took for pirates, I believe they stayed away from peg legs and parrots things pirates didn’t use. However, I think some pirates did use eye patches for dark areas (one eye was always used to the dark and thus could see better in it) so Ubisoft had some pirates with eye patches if I remember correctly

I love the fact that Ubisoft had the courage and just, common sense, to hire a professional, and an actual native to oversee how culture was being represented. I have thoroughly enjoyed the games much more knowing that Ubisoft cares about these things, AND, have much more respect for the developers.

The RDR Inspiration part explains the vibes. I thought it felt like Red Dead Redemption and I didn't expect it to appear on this list.
