20 years driving flatbed here. Never had a shipper help tarp. The most I got was they put the tarp on the load still rolled up. But usually I get "no we can't help because if the tarp gets damaged we don't want to pay for it. By the way you have to tarp in our yard and we close in 5 minutes so hurry up"

Worked at a shipping yard with a tarping station, the staircase was extremely steep and I didn't want the truckers climbing with a tarp in hand. So I always used the loader to lift their tarps to they could pull it off my forks from the top of the load

It avoids insurance claims for sure, but you as the driver don't have to climb up and pull a few hundred pounds of tarp around up there.

We used to always use the same cranes we load with to put the tarps on.

Just buy a and 8 foot ladder . I keep one on my truck for tall loads like this I've been flatbedding for a year now and I haven't been to a shipper that offers to help me tarp lol. Them 8 foot drop tarps ain't no joke 😅
