To be fair about the last one, Ezekiel did that do himself. Chris and Chef tried multiple times to kick him off the plane, but he refused to leave because he was so tunnel-visioned about the money that he refused to take no for an answer.

The scariest part?
He's not even the one in charge. Chris has a boss: *the producers.* Whatever twisted monsters are funding and producing the show in-universe are even worse because they're instructing or encouraging this stuff *AT EVERY TURN.*

Chris started off with doing devious stuff, but the creators made sure that he wasn't being an actual maniacal villain. He had relatable moments and usually gave contestants ways out. But as the series progressed and as the challenges started to get more and more ridiculous, Chris slowly morphed into an actual villain.
Chris was an antagonistic force at worst in Season 1, but he started becoming a real villain in Season 3.

That's all without mentioning the later seasons. In RotI, he had the cast compete in a nuclear wasteland and forced them to swim to the island by blowing up the boat they were on. He also had the cast compete in a challenge to assign cabins that involved detonating totem poles. That was all in the first episode.

From what I remember the only time he was concerned for the contestants lives was back in the disaster movie episode in TDA. Even then it didn't count because he knew that if the cast died than there would be no more show and therefore he would get no more paychecks. In fact it is actually my head canon that the only reason Chris was more casual evil than deranged evil in seasons 1 and 2 was because he was holding himself back so he could get rich fast off this show. After season 2 he got a lot worse because he already got himself a thriving empire and wanted it to ride on by being even more unhinged later down the road. Chris was already revealed to be a struggling celebrity before Total Drama so him starting a game show to become the bigshot he always wanted to be makes sense.
