Barcelona based techno label Rapid Eye Movement drops its first various artists release featuring
Kas:st, Manent, Phara & Border One and label founders Memorial Home and VII Circle.
Launched last year, Rapid Eye Movement’s first and second releases have come from label owners VII
Circle and Memorial Home. Both return on the imprint’s debut various artists package, joined by Flyance
Records owner Kas:st, Black Sun Records and Planet Rhythm’s Phara, Ressort Imprint producer Border
One and Italy’s Manent.
Phara & Border One’s ‘Rack Rash’ opens the release with rattling drums and sinister drones before
Memorial Home’s ‘About Her’ lays down ominous atmospherics and syncopated percussion. Manent’s
beatless ‘Another Wasted Night’ generates an otherworldy sci-fi aesthetic halfway into the release, making
way for Parisian duo Kas:st’s ‘What I Like About You Is What I Imagine’ with its drawn out breakdowns,
whirring effects and ghostly voice. Concluding it all, VII Circle’s menacing ‘Eternal’ combines soaring synths
with industrial stabs and elements of ethereality.
