Hear South Korea’s president sing “American Pie” at White House | Al Jazeera Newsfeed

South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol became the entertainment at a White House State Dinner when he sang American folk-rock classic “American Pie.” Yoon said it was one of his favourite songs growing up and gave his rendition at the request of US President Joe Biden.

I feel really touched with tears in my eyes while listening to the Korean president sing American pie. His singing shows a true friendship between the two countries. Korean is the only country that fought together in war against communist, Korean War and Vietnamese War, especially against red China dur the ng Korean war.

Korea is very welcome in the USA always. Many US soldiers still lie in the hills of Korea from the war so long ago. They could have stayed home and enjoyed a long life after WW2 just 5 years earlier. Seeing Korea prosper and uphold democratic values after some struggles makes it all worth it. The ongoing friendship between our countries is welcome and meaningful. Americans are quite aware and appreciative of Korean culture, especially recently.
