I've been trying to create a bootable USB to install Linux on a laptop, and I've been struggling for hours, trying the linux command line in Windows (WSL) and also mac (GUI and command line), without success. Finally, I found this and it worked! The process was almost as quick as the video itself (4 mins), up to the starting the copy from the iso to the pen drive (which was slow)

I used this to create a bootable USB with a Linux ISO (Slackware 15.0), and then successfully booted into a Laptop and installed Linux - all without a hitch.

Just one suggestion. At 1:40 you select a USB disk (disk 2, in your case), and then "clean" it. Because of the danger of wiping out my OS, I wanted to be 100% sure I had selected the right disk, so found the command "detail disk" which shows the details of the selected disk (do this after "select disk <n>").

It's been years since I've used dos for anything serious, and what a nice surprise to discover the powerful diskpart command!

Do we have to extract the iso file and then copy the files to the drive?

You uh, made the partition ex-fat

That's weird. As normally the partition (or volume) should be in NTFS format, I've not tried the ex-fat format but I think there is a reason why the different file structures are usually required. *shrug*

Never explained how to copy the files from command prompt, some of can't access the files otherwise
