Loon Bathing

Have you ever seen a loon bathe?

Bathing and preening their feathers keeps them clean, gets rid of external parasites, and helps them remain waterproof.
A bathing loon may roll, flap their wings, splash water around, flail its wing/legs, and/or submerge its head.

It may look unusual at first and is sometimes mistaken for a loon in distress! Though it's a perfectly normal behavior to keep loons happy and healthy.
