Always 80% water change once a week. Used to only do 50% and always has issue's with water. I have only two five inch long 8 year old Goldfish but they are dirty. So now with 80% water changes(on your recommendation Kev), they are very healthy and thriving. Hopefully I'll have them for many more year's.❤😊

How does that interact with plants? I’m fully planted. Rams and Angels. Thank you!

Looks like ur nitrates are a lil high (about 80ppm), my 125 always looks like that and I do 50% water changes every 4-5 days, my fish are good and I haven’t lost any in a long time.

Excellent work my guy!! Been watching for a bit and you got this Freshwater down. Ever thought about joining us and the Salty side? I was hesitant as well but once I did, Game changer. Food for thought if routine gets a lil boring, spice it up. Great work on the channel tho 👍🙏

Always do 80% water change weekly. Used to do 50% but always had water issue's. With two 8 year old Goldfish that are dirty, 80% water change weekly is definitely needed.( Thank to your recommendation Kev), I now have Healthy, Happy and thriving fish. ❤😊

Kev what are you using now to pump the water out of the aquarium? I don’t know if you remember but you did a video years ago about the green pump…can’t remember the name of it but yea that pump has outgrown its usefulness lol. I need something that pumps fast and a lot

Hey Kev love the vids I also keep Discus I'm here in Australia I keep Malasian imports I'm lucky here in Melbourne our tap water comes out with zero nitrates so when I do two 80 % water changes a week at the time of the water change the nitrate level averages 5% I'm very happy with the level as I dropped between 4 to 5 hundred dollars a fish I definitely pamper theses gorgeous fish

😄 To be opinionated 😊I have a ff tank crystal clear water . I never change water but top up when water evaporates a few inches using Prime . I sometimes get a small amount of algae on the back of the tank but the fish eat it and I feed them less.
I have a filter and an air stone.
Just different experience FF is not for everyone.
All the best

I used to let me nitrates get that high but i noticed a huge change in my fish when i kept the max nitrates at 20-40ppm.

How long does Prime need to effectively balance your water?

How often do you test your water? Daily?

I don't think it's really controversial, there are just two trains of thought. People that like a safety net...use big water changes and safe+stability. If you want to get off the water supplement train...add a LOT of bio filtration, manage your nitrates with your cycle, gravel vac and be happy. I don't know why people argue with each other. Neither method is invalid.

You need to get an RO system and ditch the chemicals.

Kevin, I invite you to experiment tank . Load up a planted tank with Amazon sword, Anubias and Java fern . My African Cichlids leave it alone of over 10 yrs and it reduces my water changes big time
