Uh… Why did OP’s mom force OP into sharing a room with her instead of sharing a room with Derek?… Her boyfriend literally just moved in with them, but she wants to share a room with OP? That makes absolutely no sense, at least to me.

They literally have 3 bedrooms in their house, which is enough for OP and Lily to have their own rooms and the privacy they both want, so why does Derek, out of everyone in the house, get a room all to himself? Does he not want OP’s mom sleeping in the same room as him for some reason, orrr?

I know that this story is fake. But there is something that just doesn't make any sense to me.

The mom has her room. The OP has her own room. There is an art room/guest room. Why did she have to share a room with her mom?

I can understand giving up the art room for the boyfriends kid. But shouldn't the mom and her boyfriend share a room? That would give everyone their space. That would have solved 90% of the issues

There's always what ifs in life!! But for your mother to demand and let her husband and his daughter have rule and make you feel uncomfortable in your own home she's wrong your dad left when you were too okay he wasn't really a part of your life and your mother did sacrifice!! What did she forget that you are her bio child and that Lily is her husband's child and that you should feel comfortable in your home not everything for Derek and Lily!! I do not understand these parents that forsake their child for their new spouses and their children!!!

The Mom is a mess. I think OP would have been comprehensive with a Middle-ground without having to resort at punishing Lily who did nothing wrong. Keep the man and Lily while having OP stays at her Dad's house and catching up for lost time, and occasionally do some Mother & Daughter moments. I feel like this went all too wrong over nothing.

But Derek really had no place to chime in the relationship between the OP and her Mom. OP has some very small blame in that too. Overall I feel like it's a "Me me me and only me" story and the one I'm absolutely sad about is Lily.
