For the small amount of people i found on comments, the L makes a 90 or right angle, so im turning "right". They dont use their right hand to show directional intention because laws for riding determined not to free their right hand so they still have access to their main brake in case of emergencies

Most people don’t know that these also apply to any non motorized bicycle, as well as if your turn signals don’t work and need to bring it to a shop. (Check your own state or province it may be different) this is for Ontario at least.

Grew up dirtbiking on trails so had to change up a few hand signals for the street. Normally if you are passing someone going the opposite direction you let them know how many people are behind you by holding up fingers and an upward facing fist to say you are the last person in a group. (Never assume someone is the last person in a group because they didnt give you any signal, bad accident i caused when i was in the middle of a burm passing someone and didnt have the confidence/skill to pass at that speed on that corner and still get my hand up to signal). Same stop signal but kinda patting at the ground was just "slow down", still use that one cause it doesnt seem to confuse anyone.

where I am from the clenched fist means stop and the hanging flat palm mean don't overtake/stay back/be careful!
And you don't need to tap you helmet when you see a cop if there are no other riders nearby....
