Before this video, I've been working on a different video about Kenshi Yonezu's new album but after a lot of work sunk into it, I realised the video was boring and terrible so I trashed it. Hence, why it took so long for this video to come out. Thank you for understanding.

I'm going to add something to the "controversy" side of things.

If you look at the recent Miku Expo competition, you could submit a song to be performed at the concert.... and if you win, Crypton takes over all your copyright for the song (all for a $100k yen- about $1000- prize).

If they licensed the song for the concert, but let the producer keep the rights I'd take it more seriously. They mention that they might pay you a royalty if they feel like it. Sorry guys that's not good enough. If your song is good enough to use then it's good enough to pay royalties for.

Also, when you look at the license for Piapro, Crypton says its OK to make commercial music using the software but that you're not allowed the to use the image or name of the character. Now on the one hand that makes sense (if you make a song video using Miku's image, which is their intellectual property, and have a huge hit, they're going to want a cut). But I can't work out from the license where the line is drawn. If I put an album up on bandcamp, am I allowed to say "featuring Hatsune Miku?" Am I allowed to say in the album credits that I use the Miku voice bank? Or do they demand a cut if I do so?

I can understand them wanting to keep some control over how their characters are used, but that part of the license is pretty clear: no politics and nothing degrading (makes perfect sense, though maybe difficult to police).

I can understand that Crypton doesn't want to deal with every amateur that has pretensions of glory (in the license it says that they only want to deal with people who have some sort of track record).

But it would be good if the rules were clearer. Maybe the Japanese version is better written. But if you're a producer who wants to release a song with a Crypton character and make money from it, it's not clear if you'll run into problems.

PS I'm not convinced by NT, I'm sticking with V4 for now.

Wait they WANT them to sound more robotic? suddenly Luka V4x and Miku NT make a whole lot more sense (for the record i stan both but i do prefer when they sound more natural and smooth)

I feel like Crypton may take another shot at CV04 once all NT voicebanks are finished bc not only do they not have to worry about re-making the voicebanks from scratch every so often due to a new version of the engine coming out of nowhere, but I feel they may also want an exclusive NT voice to attract fans (sure Miku will already attract people, but many already have V4x so why bother)

As far as I’m aware, Crypton did mention at some point around MM 2020 that there are other NT VBs in development for the other Piapro loids. I don’t have a source, but I do remember it being mentioned somewhere.

well, it's supply and demand. i found the other vocaloids through hatsune miku anyway, so its not all bad

Now that you say it, im actually curious on what the scraped male vocaloid would be like. What personality would he have, what would be his corresponding color, what kind of voice would he have, i have so much questions about this vocaloid even he would most likely never be developed. Also it would've have been a great idea to add another male vocaloid to the crypton family, mainly because there are so few male vocaloids and would make kaito and len look less lonely.

Me personally i think ryo is most important person who made vocaloid popular if he didn't made melt and world's mine vocaloid won't be that popular. Those people u mentioned create vocaloid fans and producers who made vocaloid popular. Miku, Yamaha, crypton r making maney becuz of us and we don't get anything decent or even worth....
