I don't like how they're feeling the need to throw celebrities into the show, and I hope they don't continue to do so. The Dee Snider cameo was fine as it was related to the plot, and Johnny's big on his '80s rock, but when she came on I was just like, what the heck is this! She just sang a cover of a song from the first Karate Kid movie which was worse than the original. Also, everyone's reaction when she came on was a bit weird. Like seriously, is Anthony Larusso really gonna look excited to see a performance from Carrie Underwood!

Idc if it underperformed. The idea that her husband is a client of Ron’s and that’s how he got her to appear was the best thing lol.

“Underperforming Underwood Cobra Kai Season 4 Watch Party” that’s just gold right there

The feeling that I got when I watched the montage was Netflix is pushing this thing more mainstream rather than what the YouTube Red seasons brought, which is what we all loved so well. It wasn’t great, but I could’ve been worse.

Someone had to say it, and I could not agree more. We missed out on some epic fights and moments for the sake of a montage which I was kind of bummed about.

What was worse was, they added clips of the tournament fights during the song so you couldnt skip it. Not cool *at all.*

Honestly, I prefer these 80's power ballad type songs to be sung by male singers.

Honestly "you're the best around" only fits when you're focusing on one Male person. "Try to be best cause you're only a man" while the Moment of truth could be referring to anyone and unlike the karate kid, Cobra Kai revolves around an ensemble cast. Including female fighters. You're the best around wouldn't work for Sam or Tory and this whole season built up to their fight in particular.

It wasn't bad but personally I would've preferred some 80s rock

It flopped for me because I’m not a fan of her

You all forget this season was filmed during a pandemic. The reason things feel claustrophobic is because they had so many restrictions because of Covid. Same goes for the montages. We didn't get that many fights cause stunt men and the actors had to wear masks all the time. So they couldn't film fights in such detail. Yeah, I also was kinda disappointed from s4 tournament but given the time period, and the great finals I can give it an easy pass 👍

Id rather see the fights than a random cameo i dont care either way but with so many character arcs lacking id honestly rather see training montages or character interactions

I 100% agree with you on this! It was not as personal in the S4 fighting montage. One of the many reasons I was a little disappointed in S4. Hopefully they redeem themselves in S5.

She shouldn’t have been in the show to begin with.

Did all the budget go to having Carrie Underwood as guest star?

Moments like this kinda make me wish YouTube kept it. It wasn’t rotten but wasn’t meaningful

I agree completely I also felt that it was so out of place how Kenny a 8th grader who trained 3 months tops Some how got to the quarter finals against high schools who train for at least over a year.

Instead of exploring the true story, mates, they chose to show a singer for many minutes that has little to do with the arc. It was upsetting .
I d give the tournament a 5/10

I thought it was really out of place to see her doing a performance in the show. I was cringing while she was giving her little speech beforehand, and I didn't like how they kept showing shots of her singing in the middle of the tournament. I think it'd be okay if they brought her out to sing the song, but just had her music in the background. No talking, no clips of her singing during the fights, just her showing up to sing as background music for the show and then saying thank you at the end of whatever. But even then it doesn't make sense why there'd be a concert during a karate tournament. Imagine before the main event of a UFC fight, "ladies and gentlemen, please help me welcome Barry Manilow"
