The latest and smallest adventure bike of Honda is the CRF250 Rally. Let's find out, how can it fullfill the expectations!

I really enjoy mine...absolutely factory standard. In many ways my favourite bike of the dozen bikes I've owned.

This review was very good, thank you! The rider height and weight discussion is very good and should be discussed like this in more reviews.

I must have seen about all the CRF250 Rally reviews and this one really added something by discussing weight and height. Other than that, it was also a fine review. Both very enjoyable and informative to watch. Thanks!

This is very helpful review. One of the best review on crf250l rally.

I disagree with the weight comments. I'm around 130 kg and with the rear shock preload on maximum my 250 Rally performs absolutely fine both on road and off road. My other bike is a BMW 1100 so it's not like I have unrealistically low expectations for performance. The owner's manual rates it for 160 kg load, so I can even add standard airline luggage!

Good overview of the bike. Im an example of a more manly build than the underfeed 70 kilo ideal rider for this bike at a tad over the 100 kilo mark and I tower over the standard bar set up.First thing to do is wind up the rear shock to firm it up. Factory setting is pretty much set up at softest. Dont crank it all the way as this starts to seriously compromise rebound and dampening. Next change out the bars, add risers, bark busters, height sorted. From there on if you can be arsed is ditch the exhaust system, save 5+ kilos, a decent air filter and biff the snorkel on top of the airbox results in about 3 horsepower at the rear but more importantly more low down torque in the low to mid range. If you're rich get a seat concepts seat, I'm too mean.
Just the snorkel adds a half an hp !
Then leave the motor alone or you'll bugger it, cant modify the mapping.
Gains with piggy back boxes dubious for the money in my opinion.

Great review! I was having trouble finding comments on comfort by rider size.

Very, very interesting and helpful. I nearly bought it but I'm 1.83m and I don't like the weak rear end of the bike. Wish they made a 450 and more sturdy version of this bike.

This costs 6100euro... Us it overpriced in your opinion? It's lick 1000 more of the normal crf250l, does it worth?

You might be able to tighten the rear spring a bit - many models can do that

I really want to buy CRF 250 Rally, tough on all terrains but unfortunately in Indonesia it costs $4800 US, quite expensive for me

What a pity! As a 193cm 85kg rider I was thinking of buying this bike as a way of getting into biking, precisely because I am so tall and gangly! Mostly on road with a bit of gravel tracks. OnroadDotBike, do you have any suggestions for a good beginners bike for any tall riders out there? Thanks for a really informative review - your English is excellent!
