I don’t understand why these companies are ignoring the 400-500cc market. I’d jump on a 450cc version of this in a heartbeat.

Biggest question is: 1. Is it really capable off road. Sure looking cool & all but can it hack it?
2. How does it compare to the wr250rr?
3. Best tires for both off/on road?
4. What are the whight /height limitations for this bike, rider wise.
5. After market options for this bike which are must have.
6. What specific tools to take for this bike off road.

Crash bar options would be good to know. Those plastics are going to be expensive to replace if you drop it off-road. Information on luggage options would also be useful as well as improved rear shocks for those of us who share Lemmy’s gravitational displacement class.

The longer suspension means nothing, it’s static sag and softness are even worse than a base 250l, the extra 1.2” disappears as soon as you get it off the side stand, i know I own a 2017 and compared both, engine is weak it will do 87mph but gets floaty at over 75, and doesn’t have a lot of low end grunt even with shorter sprocket ratios it still suffer from long winded high speed hill slow down from 80 to low 70s. But it’s been dead reliable so far and it’s cheap to maintain. Another thing to note is the fairings on the rally are grossly more expensive to fix than the base. A basic off-road lay down can cost upwards of $1000 to fix the bodywork, where as the base is per typical dirt bike fashion

Can Lemmy do a video on swapping the 250cc engine for the cbr’s 300cc?
Hehehe

As a 5'9 150lb rider coming from a dirt background, I can say that I much prefer my cushy/smooth 250 Rally to the DRZ400S I used to own which had a ton of vibration in comparison. It is easy to focus on displacement, but I couldn't recommend the 250L/Rally enough if you spend most of your time on-road and prefer to take backroads to the trailhead instead of the highway.

Does it come with the nobbies as standard? And is there an option for more street oriented tires?

Can this be used on long journeys confertablely, is that 250 engine powerful enough?

How much weight can you pack on this machine….(within reason)…and a back Ohlin Shock?

Single track capabilities, rocks, roots, trees? How does all the weight feel in the woods ?

Is it powerful enough for real off road capability or is it just for show? I have yet to see a review stating this is a capable off road machine compared to its competitors (WR250R or even the beefier DRZ) get off the pavement for the review and see what it can handle!

My first question would be how do they work on the road. I'm considering a CRF250L as a first bike, as they are relatively cheap to run and built to take the occasional beating. However, I would mostly be using it for commuting, though I might dabble in some light off-road riding to see if I find it enjoyable

how does it corner off road? is the weight a problem for cornering? can suspension upgrade help? can tires help? thanks

Is there a graphic kit like the style you have there?

Is the added weight on the Rally a major detriment versus the lighter standard CRF250L? Seating Height differential between the standard and Rally. I can flat foot my 2014 but on tippy toes on the Rally which I have yet to ride? I've read that the Rally has larger throttle bodies and a bit more grunt to the standard. I'm debating trading in my standard for the Rally or keeping my standard and throwing on FNM exhaust, header, EJK fuel controller, 13t sprocket and air box mod. Am I just better off going with the Rally?
