It is sad that contributions of our great ancestors took so long for the world to acknowledge. Great work by you mam. Keep spreading knowledge❤

चतुरधिकं शतमष्टगुणं द्विषष्टिस्तथा सहस्रणाम्।
अयुतद्व्यविष्कम्भस्य आसन्नो वृत्त परिणाहः।।

Aryabhatt has defined in this shloka the general multiplier for getting the circumference of any circle whose diameter is known, which later was given the name pi. In ancient times when yagyas used to be held, ascetics used to make circular vedi. Hence he defined this rule for ease of calculation.

Very well made video Keerthi.

I love ancient Indian history! You r amazing at history I’m a big fan! I wish more Indians would acknowledge the intelligence of ancient Indians

Correction : 3.14 is a near approximation of Pi, I'm sure you know Pi is Irrational and extends up to infinity after the decimal point.

Thank You, Madam! I was unaware of the FACT that ARYABHATA found the value of Pi 1500 years back. We all INDIANS should be proud of this. You are doing a good job of educating the world with facts.

aryabhatta was a genius, he went closer to the PI's value then Archimedes's 3.1425 . having a difference of 0.0009 while he has just a difference of 0.0002

Value of pi is known from a long time and specific process was used to calculate the the value of Pi this process transferred through many civilizations including Indian, Chinese, persian etc.

So actually it is of no surprise to see value of pi in ancient India

Love the story of mathematics and how it evolved and grew in different places at different speeds. Yes the world should celebrate these sages . Thanks for sharing there stories with the world

No, Indian sage Aryabhata did not calculate pi for a circle before anybody else. He was a great mathematician and astronomer who lived in the 5th century AD. He made many important contributions to mathematics, including a more accurate approximation of pi than had been previously known. However, he did not calculate pi first.

The first known calculation of pi was made by the Babylonians around 1900 BC. They approximated pi as 3.125. The Indian mathematician and astronomer Brahmagupta made a more accurate approximation of pi in the 7th century AD. He calculated pi as 3.1416. Aryabhata's approximation of pi was 3.1418.

So, while Aryabhata was a brilliant mathematician and astronomer, he did not calculate pi first.

Not only the value of "pi', but the Pythagoras theorem was demonstrated by boudhyama many centuries ago, Susruttha had performed complicated surgeries centuries sgo!!!

It is indeed a great work by you to bring out the glories of our ancestors!!!

Fun fact : she didn't mention Aryabhatta discovered the value of pi , she just said that Aryabhatta calculated value of pi 1500 years ago which was already discovered by Archimedes

Wonderful to see someone finally say that Aryabhatta was the one who calculated the value.
Aryabhatta has done a really commendable job and it is quite intriguing how he did this about 1500 years ago.
Our Indian sages should get more recognition and you are doing a good job on that.
